‘I am not fragile’ is a response to Becky's previous worked titled 'I'm Fine'. Over the years, the portraits Becky took became dated, her disability remains unchanged but her own attitude towards her disability has. Realising she is not always fine and that the world is still not built for disabled people, Becky decided to show herself once again, vulnerable, but not fragile.
About the artist
Becky is a photographer based in London. During University, Becky found acceptance in herself and her disability through the medium of photography. Later in life, Becky was diagnosed with Dyslexia. This 'diagnoses' was never a hindrance. It gave her even more power and understanding of the inaccessible society we all live in. Photography remained the one medium that helped Becky to express. Creating her project I am not fragile was an expression of being both neurodiverse and having a physical impairment.
